DR. Franklin Rechnitzer
Ophthalmologist
Dr. Franklin Rechnitzer is an ophthalmologist who graduated from the Universidad de Costa Rica. Upon graduation, Dr. Rechnitzer joins the staff of the Mexico Hospital in San José as an attending ophthalmologist, he stays in this post for four years. After this he joined the surgical team at the Ophthalmologic Specialties Clinic of the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (Costa Rica’s universal medical service) in the department of anterior segment, as a surgeon in complicated cases. He also belongs to the Ocular Ultrasound department in this hospital.
At this time he also starts working as the Ophthalmology Service Director for the Hospital ClĂnica BĂblica in San JosĂ©, a Joint Commission International approved hospital.
The doctor has placed emphasis in diseases and surgeries of the anterior segment of the eye such as: cataract surgeries, cornea transplants, refractive surgery and placement or rings to treat keratoconus. Dr. Rechnitzer was one of the first doctors to successfully place Ferrara Rings for the treatment of keratoconus in Costa Rica.
Dr. Rechnitzer also works at ClĂnica 20/20 in the San Jose suburbs, which currently boasts the most updated ophthalmology equipment in the country.
